Megan
Everett is entering her second year as the Assistant Principal of Rockledge Elementary.  Mrs. Everett has enjoyed spending the past year getting to know the Rockledge community.  Mrs. Everett has loved learning the Rockledge traditions and becoming a part of the Rockledge family.  Upon returning this school year, she said walking up the sidewalk on her first day was like coming home.

Mrs. Everett fully supports Mrs. Schott’s mission and vision of Rockledge and is fully engaged in the Rockledge students’ education.  She participates in weekly teacher team meetings and visits classrooms regularly to stay up to date on the current strengths and needs of students and staff.  Mrs. Everett believes in setting high expectations for students and providing differentiated instruction to help each child achieve his or her goals.  She believes the key to student success is through building strong relationships with students and families.  Mrs. Schott and Mrs. Everett want every parent to know that the Rockledge staff considers parents the students’ best advocates and experts.  They both encourage regular communication and collaboration with teachers to ensure children are achieving at their highest potential!

Mrs. Everett completed her bachelor’s degree at Western New England College with a major in Psychology and a minor in Education.  She completed her master’s in Elementary and Special Education at Springfield College and her master’s in Educational Leadership at George Mason University.  She holds certifications in Administration and Supervision K-12, Elementary Education K-6, and Special Education Pre-K- 8.  Mrs. Everett began her teaching career in Massachusetts working with students with autism.  She moved to Prince William County in 2013 and was a special education teacher of students in both specialty programs and as a resource teacher.  Mrs. Everett served as the lead mentor for new teachers and led the resource team which included special education, ESOL, gifted, reading, and technology teachers.  Mrs. Everett enjoys spending her spare time with her husband and son who just celebrated his first birthday.  Her personal interests are reading (especially Harry Potter), math, baking, kayaking, racquetball, and photography.

Mrs. Schott and Mrs. Everett encourage parent involvement in influencing decision-making, so please consider becoming active in ways which are shared with Rockledge parents throughout each school year.  They will continue to work closely with staff to ensure you always feel that you are a welcomed member of the Rockledge family.
