WELCOME TO ROCKLEDGE!
Boo Hoo Breakfast
Tuesday, September 2 the PTA will be hosting a Boo Hoo breakfast at 9:00. Parents can enter through door #3. It's a great time to meet other parents in the community, enjoy a light breakfast, and hear about what PTA has in store for our students this year.
Free and Reduced Meal Applications
Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications were mailed via email or US mail by the School Division to families with children registered in Prince William County Public Schools. If you did not receive an application, please contact School Food and Nutrition Services at 703.791.7314 or your school. You may also complete the application electronically. Visit the School Division Web site at www.pwcs.menus.schoolfusion.us/ to access the electronic application. Parents may return the application to the school.
School Food and Nutrition Services will process the applications as received, and notify parents of their approval or disapproval. If the parent has an email on file this notification will be done electronically. Students who were eligible to receive free or reduced price meals in Prince William County Public Schools in 2013-14 will be served based on their previous eligibility until October 14, 2014 or a new application is processed. After that date, no student can receive free and reduced price meals unless they have a current approved application on file in the School Food and Nutrition Services office.

Policies and Regulations
The Policies and Regulations governing Prince William County Public Schools may be accessed online at pwcs.edu. Look for the "Policies and Regulations" button on the left of the page.

Student Accident Insurance
Student accident insurance is becoming more and more important to families due to lack of other insurance for their children, or having major medical plans with ever-increasing deductibles and co-insurance requirements. Student accident insurance will be available July 1 for parents to enroll their students for the 2014–15 school year. Markel (PWCS student accident insurance provider) has an electronic enrollment process through the Markel Web site or by calling 877.444.5014.

This Web site allows parents to:
• View all of the coverage and premium options;
• Review a “Frequently Asked Questions” section; and
• Purchase the insurance using a credit/debit card and receive an instant and printable confirmation of what they purchased.

Clothes Donations for Clinic
This summer when you are going through clothes that your kids have outgrown, please keep the school clinic in mind. We are in need of gently used pants, tee shirts, shorts and sweatshirts for boys and girls in a variety of sizes. If you happen upon a fantastic sale, we could also use donations of new socks and underwear for boys and girls. As always we thank our Rockledge community for your outstanding support!

Summer Reading 2014
The purpose of the PWCS summer reading program is to encourage students to read quality literature and to continue developing their independent reading skills.  Student participation in the program is voluntary.  Students who choose to participate in the program are required to complete a minimum number of readings over the summer.  To see the summer reading list for your child's grade level, click here.  Just a reminder, you can encourage your students to continue to explore and enjoy the PebbleGo site over the summer.  They can use it at home. We also encourage students and parents to get library cards. The children can access Tumble Books and many other age appropriate materials online from the Prince William Public Library webpage. This way, when you are not able to get to the library, if they have a computer, tablet, or any other device with internet access, they can still read, learn and enjoy the site from home all summer!

Rockledge is closed to transfers for the 2014-2015 school year.
