The Prince William County School Board has taken action to address the missed time due to snow days. March 31 will be a full day of school. Beginning March 31 through the end of the school year 10 minutes will be added to the school day. This would change our dismissal time to 3:40. April 21 will be a full day of school. June 18 will be a full day of school and June 19 will be the last day of school.

April is Autism Awareness Month
Facts about Autism:
-Autism is a disability that which affects someone's 1) Language and communication 2) Social interactions 3) Behaviors and interests.
-There is no one cause for autism, just like there is no one type of autism.  Scientists think that there's a connection to genetics and the environment, but they're still trying to figure it out.
-Today, there is no cure for autism.  However, it is possible to "overcome" many symptoms of autism, or at the very least gain some control of difficult behaviors.
-The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identify around 1 in 68 American children as on the autism spectrum.
There are lots of ways YOU can be a friend to someone with autism!
-First, be aware of some common characteristics of autism, and accept that everyone is different
-Know that some kids with autism are very smart, they just show it in a different way
-Be patient--understand that your friend doesn't mean to bother you or others
-Join your friend in activities that interest them
-NEVER be afraid to ask your teacher questions about your classmate with autism

Internet Safety Starts with YOU!
Technology is wonderful, but it must be used safely!
Parents, please continue to support our efforts to promote the safe use of technological devices by ensuring that your child is engaging in appropriate behavior while using their cell phone or visiting Internet sites. Regularly check to make sure that any applications or social networking sites they use on their computer or mobile device (cellular phone, Ipad, tablet) are appropriate for their age. Many sites and applications have minimum age requirements and restrictions. Please check to make sure your child meets these requirements before allowing them to download or use any application or visit a website.
Using technological devices in a careful way keeps ALL of our Rockledge Eagles safe! Thank you!
